Halloween started off a bit scary for us this year. At 4am Max woke up with bleeding from his mouth, more than we were comfortable with. To shorten a very long story that I'd really just like to forget, after a visit to the ER we were able to determine that the bleeding had stopped and after a visit to see his surgeon we also confirmed his healing is on track, if not ahead, and that we more than likely will not see anymore bleeding like that again. This took up most of our Halloween day and also left Max acting even more lethargic than usual which made for a very nervous Mama.

Thankfully (nurse) Auntie Katie was home that day and we were able to hang out with her and eventually Max started to perk back up and even started eating again. Halloween was saved thanks to the excitement of family! Have I ever mentioned how great it is to have a nurse in the family? Because it is! And also? I should mention that her, Grammy and Grandma were all extremely big helps with both Max and Rory during this ordeal. I want to make sure they all know how much I appreciated their help!

So, anyway, on to the cute pictures, because I know that is what you are really looking for! Max and Rory were pirates this year.

We had so much with face paint too! Max did most of his own face painting while Rory let Cecil and I help her. Here they are checking out their end results.

Lyla and Nora were adorable this year. Lyla picked out their costumes, she wanted to be a bunny and have Nora as a carrot. How stinking cute is Nora's green carrot leaf top?!

Of course, the mandatory cousin photo. I love that we spend the holidays together!

And Kenley was there to celebrate with us too; our Halloween group will be even bigger next year as Kenley should have a new sister within the next two weeks!

Uncle Andrew also dressed up, and freaked his daughter Nora out so much she wouldn't take her eyes off of him. At least he was the fun dad that dressed up though!

After the kids filled their buckets we headed off to Grandma's for a quick trick-or-treat stop. Auntie Ta-Ta was also there too so the kids got some more spoiling there.

Then we got into our pajamas, tried out a few treats and packed up to head home. Did I mention I let the kids put on Pirate tattoos? Did I also mention that the Pirate tattoos were one of the ways I started to bring the excitement back in Max this afternoon? He may have gone a little crazy, but it helped!

Happy Halloween to you all and may you never, ever, ever have to start you day with an early morning bleed! (Unless you are a vampire, than do what you must!)

P.S.
Today is Dusty's 30th birthday. I'm sure I'll have photos from our little family celebration tonight, but be sure to wish the old man a happy birthday if you talk to him!
